In the words of Derek Clark on how to live a better life:
“Have a good self-image. The better you think of yourself, the better your life will be. Don’t be egotistical and go thinking you’re the only awesome person who ever existed; but be confident that you are unique and have something unique to offer the world. The most important opinion we’ll ever have will be the opinion we have of ourselves. You will be spending the rest of your life with yourself: try and make yourself somebody you want to spend time with. Your personal energy attracts similar energy. Downers attract downers, and people who get their jollies wallowing in the muck attract the same. Likewise, people who are up, enthusiastic, and optimistic attract the same. And when two or more people come together with that positive energy, beautiful things happen.
Have an attitude of gratitude. Life is an adventure. It can be a wild buck, but take it by the reins and hold on. Live this life! Contemplate the mystery and the miracle of existence. Don’t take it for granted. There is nothing quite so amazing or startling as the mere fact that we are here, on a gorgeous planet, floating in space around an enormous star. When we keep in mind that the mere fact of our existence is spectacular, we easily come to see every day as a gift. And when we see every day as a rare and precious gift, we’ll be motivated to make the most productive use of this gift.
Remember, sharing is caring. Being of service to others is always simultaneously a service to yourself. Try being selfless instead of selfish. Doing good and earning accolades for ourselves is certainly a thrill and a boost to our self-esteem. But quite honestly, it is nothing like the natural high we get from helping others achieve their goals, and inspiring them to go after their dreams. But we have to set the example. We have to live what we preach. Once we accomplish our goals, we have the ability to show others that it can really, truly be done.
Words shape us and seal our fate. The words you speak to yourself become self-fulfilling prophecies. Words attract energy. Don’t let the “inner me” become the “enemy.” Using the right language is the first step in forming the right frame of mind. Once we shape our minds and our thoughts, our lives come to resemble our state of mind.
There is always a second chance. Just because you’ve had a few hard knocks doesn’t mean the fight is over. You are still alive; this fact alone means there are more opportunities waiting for you. Just when you think you’re onto life’s boxing style, it will throw a loopy haymaker and set you off balance so it can deliver the one-two punch that knocks you to the canvas. But pick yourself off the mat and put your dukes up. There is always another round left, and you can still pull out a win.”
Remember that your life gets better…when you get better!
Never limit your life!
